Updated July 2026.
Smirnoff No. 21 (Red Label) is typically 40% ABV / 80 proof on US bottles — the TTB vodka floor. A 1.5-ounce pour is one NIAAA standard drink and about 97 calories (USDA 80-proof spirits). Diageo owns the brand. UK and some other markets print 37.5%. Flavored Smirnoffs are a different class and a different proof. We will not reprint a 2021 price grid.
US vodka must be distilled to a high neutrality and bottled at ≥40% ABV when unflavored. Ice malt beverages (Smirnoff Ice) are not vodka — see Smirnoff Ice drink count. For the category see vodka guide.
What the neck actually says
| SKU | Typical US strength | 1.5 oz as std drinks |
|---|---|---|
| No. 21 / Red Label (US) | 40% / 80 proof | 1.00 |
| No. 21 some export / UK | 37.5% | 0.94 |
| Flavored vodka line | Often 30–35% — label | <1.00 |
| Smirnoff Ice (malt beverage) | ~4.5% on US Original 11.2 oz | Not a vodka shot |
| 750 mL No. 21 US | 40% | ~17 drinks in the bottle |
A 1.75 L handle at 40% is about 39.5 shots. Four 1.5-ounce pours are four drinks. NIAAA binge pattern is a health line, not a target. Tonic calories live on the mixervodka tonic calories. Storage: unflavored vodka does not spoil like beer; freeze point is an ethanol tabledoes vodka freeze.
