Johnnie Walker: Proof, Types, and Buying Guide

Updated July 2026.

Johnnie Walker Red Label and Black Label are 40% ABV / 80 proof on the current US brand pages. A 1.5-ounce pour is one NIAAA standard drink. Both are blended Scotch (malt + grain) from Diageo. Black’s whiskies are aged at least 12 years; Red is the no-age-statement mixer. Color is caramel (E150a) plus barrel — not extra proof. Green Label is a different strength (commonly 43%; confirm).

We will not reprint a 2021 price list. Blue Label is another shelf and another invoice. Scotch calories: Scotch calories. Identity: whiskey types.
