Don Julio Tequila: Proof, Types, and Sizes

Updated April 2026.

Don Julio Blanco prints 40% alc./vol. on the US brand page — “DON JULIO TEQUILA. 40% ALC./VOL.” A 1.5-ounce pour is one NIAAA standard drink. It is 100% Blue Weber agave tequila from Atotonilco el Alto, Jalisco (Diageo). Reposado, Añejo, and 1942 are other ages, not other proofs unless the neck says so. Some export markets print 38%. We will not reprint a 2021 price grid.

CRT/NOM identity still applies. The NOM is on the bottle (commonly associated with the Don Julio facility — confirm the four digits). Compare tequila types, Casamigos, and tequila drink count.

Core US line vs the rest

Reposado / Añejo / 1942 Usually 40% on US bottles 1.00 if 40% Age class changes; proof may not. Read the neck
Some export SKUs 38% where so labeled 0.95 Taiwan/other-market pages print 38%.
750 mL Blanco 40% ~17 drinks in the bottle NIAAA math

A 1.75 L 40% handle is about 39.5 shots. Four Blanco pours are four drinks. NIAAA binge pattern is a health line, not a target. Unopened tequila does not spoil like beerdoes tequila go bad. No 2026 MSRP; 1942 street prices move.
