Updated July 2026.
Absinthe taste is not a TTB class. US labels file the bottle as a distilled spirit or specialty. There is no separate “absinthe” standard of identity in 27 CFR Part 5 Subpart I. Anise, wormwood, or “louche” talk is bar English. High-proof lots exist; they are not a strongest crown. A 1.5-ounce pour at 40% is one NIAAA drink; scale whatever the neck prints.
Related: gin taste, Jägermeister taste, strongest alcohol.

A 750 mL 40% bottle is about 17 drinks. High-proof necks count faster. Pour math: shot drinks.
