Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 is Tennessee whiskey at 80 proof / 40% ABV on the standard US black-label bottle. It is not labeled bourbon. Tennessee law requires charcoal mellowing (the Lincoln County Process) on top of the same grain-and-new-oak skeleton bourbon uses. A 1.5-ounce pour is one NIAAA standard drink. Gentleman Jack is also typically 80 proof; Bonded is 100 proof; Single Barrel Select is commonly 94 proof; Single Barrel Barrel Proof is batch-specific.

Lynchburg is in a dry Moore County; the distillery sells under a specific exception. That does not change the bottle in a Texas or California liquor store. A 750 mL Old No. 7 is about 17 standard drinks; a 1.75 L about 39. Four black-label pours are four drinks; four Bonded pours are five. NIAAA binge pattern is a health line, not a target.
