Basil Hayden and Buffalo Trace are two Kentucky straight bourbons at two different proofs. Beam Distilling’s Basil Hayden page prints 80 proof / 40% ABV. Buffalo Trace’s flagship page prints 90 proof / 45% ABV. A 1.5-ounce pour is 1.00 NIAAA drink for Basil Hayden and 1.13 drinks for Buffalo Trace. They are not the same mash or the same campus. “Better” is not a TTB score.
