What Is a New Bourbon Release?

Updated July 2026.

New bourbon releases are house English for a later bottling, not IBA. 5.143 already: US bourbon class. IBA Old Fashioned already 45 mL. A new label is not a second class. Count the whiskey ounces.

Trace: Buffalo Trace. Way: what is a way to drink Buffalo Trace. Alt: Buffalo Trace alternative. Woodford: Woodford Reserve. Vanilla: bourbon with vanilla notes. Extract: what bourbon is used for vanilla extract. Proof: what 100 proof whiskey means. Shot: how many ml is a shot.

Release vs recovered calendar

5.143 already: US bourbon class Recovered month-by-month 2023 ranking Recovered tickets IBA Old Fashioned already 45 mL BT already 90/45 NAS cream 30/15 Distiller’s Select already 90.4/45.2 shop Double Oaked 750 mL already 43.2% 5.88 already: 100 proof ≠ BiB Knob Creek 9yr already Maker’s already 90/45 21 CFR 169.175 vanilla ≥35% Jack already: Tennessee whiskey, not bourbon.

Release already: a later bottling is still 5.143 if it meets the class. 45 mL whiskey is the Old Fashioned pour. US shot already 1.5 fl oz. A 1.5 fl oz 40% pour is one drink. A new label does not erase those ounces. Count the whiskey.

Lock What it is not

Count the pour

IBA parts, not a recovered calendar lock:

Part mL fl oz
Whiskey (IBA Old Fashioned) 45 1.5
US shot 44 1.5
750 mL fifth 750 25.4

45 mL of 40% whiskey is about one drink. A 1.5 fl oz 40% pour is one drink.
