Moonshine is not a TTB class. Vodka is. US vodka (27 CFR 5.142) is a neutral spirit bottled at not less than 40% ABV. Historical moonshine is illicit, untaxed spirits. Legal jars labeled moonshine are usually unaged corn whiskey or a flavored specialty. A 1.5-ounce 40% pour is one NIAAA drink; many shine SKUs print 50% or more.

Four 50% pours are five drinks. NIAAA binge pattern is a health line, not a target. Untaxed home stills are a crime, not a recipe. Hours to buy a legal jar are state law. No 2026 MSRP.
