Updated August 2026.
Blanton’s is distilled, aged, and bottled at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky (Sazerac). The brand is owned by Age International, a Takara Holdings company. Sazerac has the exclusive contract to make it. That 1992 split — Takara kept Age International brands; Sazerac bought the plant — is why Gold and Straight From the Barrel showed up overseas first. Original Single Barrel is 93 proof / 46.5% ABV.
It is not a Buffalo Trace flagship dump in a horse-stopper. Trade consensus puts Blanton’s on Mash Bill #2 (higher rye) with Elmer T. Lee and Rock Hill Farms; Buffalo Trace flagship is Mash Bill #1. Sazerac does not print those recipes as percentages. We will not invent them. Related: Buffalo Trace, barrel proof.
