Updated April 2026.
Pappy is allocated, long-aged Van Winkle bourbon from Buffalo Trace — not a grocery SKU with a stable sticker. The 2002 family joint venture and multi-year barrel time are the documented keep. Suggested retail and street diverge. We will not invent either number, an auction hammer, or a 2022 “ten times retail” table.
Age statements on 15 / 20 / 23 are TTB age when they appear on the label. Proofs are not on the Buffalo Trace overview fetched — read the neck. Related: who makes Pappy, Pappy line, Weller Special Reserve.
What actually drives the hunt
| Factor | What it is | What we will not do |
|---|---|---|
| Allocation | Limited release; state/distributor | Invent a street price |
| Age | 15 / 20 / 23 on those SKUs | Treat age as a score |
| 2002 partnership | BT distill / age / bottle | Call it a contract mystery |
| Wheated story | Family / Weller chapter | Invent mash % |
| Secondary market | Not TTB; not brand MSRP | Print a fake number |
A 1.5-ounce pour still scales with labeled ABV. Hours and lottery rules are state ABC plus the store. Pour math: whiskey drinks.
