How Much Alcohol Is in Busch Light?

Updated April 2026.

Busch Light is 4.1% ABV, 95 calories, and 3.2 g carbs per 12 ounces (355 mL) on Anheuser-Busch’s 2026 tile. That is 0.82 US standard drinks — not Bud Light (4.2% / 110 calories) and not regular Busch (4.3% / 114). A 24-ounce can is 1.64 drinks. Can math, not a fishing-trip challenge.

Count ounces and ABV, not the word “light.” Legal driving is 0.08% BAC in most US states (0.05% in Utah).

Busch Light vs nearby lagers

Standard drinks = (fl oz × ABV) ÷ 0.6. NIAAA’s example is 12 oz at 5% = 1.00 drink. 12 × 0.041 ÷ 0.6 = 0.82.

Beer mL / 12 oz ABV Cal / 12 oz Std drinks / 12 oz Std drinks / 24 oz
Busch Light 355 4.1% 95 0.82 1.64
Busch (regular) 355 4.3% 114 0.86 1.72
Busch Ice 355 5.9% 136 1.18 2.36
Bud Light (for scale) 355 4.2% 110 0.84 1.68
Modelo Especial 355 4.4% 143 0.88 1.76
NIAAA “regular beer” 355 5.0% varies 1.00 2.00

Official Light panel also lists 0.7 g protein. Regular Busch is 6.9 g carbs / 0.9 g protein. Ice is a different beer — 5.9% on the 2026 Busch Ice tile, 1.18 drinks per 12 ounces. Do not mix the three cartons in a garage fridge and then argue about calories. For Modelo’s numbers, see how much alcohol is in Modelo. For Bud Light math, how many Bud Lights.

Why “light” still adds up

Four 12-ounce 5% beers in about two hours is NIAAA’s binge-drinking pattern for women; five is the male pattern. In Busch Light 12-ounce cans that is about 4.9 cans (women) or 6.1 cans (men) to match those standard-drink counts — a conversion, not a prescription. A 30-pack is about 24.6 standard drinks if every can is 4.1%. A 25-ounce silo at 4.1% is 1.71 drinks. Ice fishing and golf carts are how 0.82 becomes six without anyone “having that many beers.”

How many until you feel drunk is the same essay as how many beers to get drunk — weight, sex, food, time — not a brand-specific superpower. Competitors who print 14 grams in a 12-ounce 4.1% can are doing the wrong math; 355 mL × 0.041 × 0.789 ≈ 11.5 g, or 0.82 of NIAAA’s 14 g drink.

Calories, carbs, and the 95-calorie marketing

Ninety-five calories is real on the 12-ounce serve. Ethanol is still 7 kcal/g. A 12-ounce 4.1% beer holds about 11.5 g of alcohol — most of those 95 calories — plus 3.2 g carbohydrate. Flavored seasonal SKUs (peach, apple, and whatever the current carton is) can change ABV and calories. The core can is 4.1%. Read the side if the carton is a flavor. See calories in a shot of bourbon for the 40% version of ethanol math.

If you are counting a cooler

  • 12 oz cans × 0.82 drinks (355 mL).
  • 16 oz pints of the same beer × 1.09 drinks (473 mL).
  • 24 oz or 25 oz “silos” × ~1.64–1.71 drinks.
  • A 30-pack of 12 oz is about 24.6 standard drinks if every can is 4.1% — that is the box, not a weekend plan.
  • Do not add shots and forget them. See how many shots.

Gas-station coolers sell the silo size because it is one SKU. It is not one drink. Same trap as other value lagers in best gas station alcohol. Leftover warm cans: how long beer lasts in the fridge. If the cooler also has 5% 12-ounce seltzers, those are 1.00 drink each — more than Busch Light — see White Claw.
