Whiskey at Costco: Kirkland, Proof, and the Sticker

Updated March 2026.

There is no official “best whiskey at Costco.” The warehouse sticker is a price, not a TTB class. Kirkland Signature SKUs rotate by region; producer, mash, and proof are on that neck — we will not invent a 2026 house PDF. A 1.5-ounce pour is one NIAAA drink at 40% and 1.25 at 50%. National brands on the same aisle still have to meet (or the Scotch/Irish technical file). No invented ranking or MSRP.

Read the neck, not a list

Label language What it has to mean
Whiskey / whisky class 27 CFR 5.143 or the relevant technical file
Kirkland Signature Private label; producer/proof on that lot
Straight bourbon ≥51% corn; new charred oak; ≥80 proof
750 mL at 40% ~17 NIAAA drinks

Four 40% pours are four drinks. Kirkland tequila NOM is a different aisle (current 1173 / historical 1142+1472). Pour math: whiskey drinks.
