Updated June 2026.
Hennessy is cognac, not whiskey. Official us.hennessy.com FAQ this fetch: identify a bottle through the house contact form with the batch number on the back label — it starts with L followed by 12 digits. Official hennessy.com product and labeling HTML unused this fetch (maintenance). Virginia ABC lists V.S and V.S.O.P Privilege at 40.0% ABV / 80 proof. We will not invent a hologram how-to or a shop price. Buy licensed retail.
The house: Hennessy. Class: what Hennessy is, is Hennessy brandy, is Hennessy whiskey. Proof: how much alcohol is in Hennessy. Pour: how to drink Hennessy.
Official cues this fetch — and nothing we invent
27 CFR 5.145 this fetch: brandy is bottled at not less than 40% ABV. Cognac is grape brandy distilled exclusively in the Cognac region of France and entitled to that name under French law. Cats stay faqs, cognac, and brandy — cognac 13 is the appellation; brandy 12 is the class. Do not swap them. A fake-spot page is not a mixer ranking and not a shop.
What we can source without writing a counterfeiter’s guide: the official US FAQ asks you to send the query and the batch number (back label, L + 12 digits) through the house contact form. That is a consumer path, not a field-strip lecture. The official App Store listing for the Hennessy Reveal app (developer MHCS SCS; © Hennessy) this fetch calls REVEAL one tool in Moët Hennessy’s battle against counterfeiting and says it scans holographic labels on X.O., V.S., V.S.O.P., and Classivm. We will name that official tool. We will not print how to read, copy, or defeat a hologram. any unused house HTML.
| Cue / SKU | What we can source | What we will not print |
|---|---|---|
| Batch number | Official US FAQ: back label, L + 12 digits; contact form | A serial how-to we did not source |
| Reveal app | Official App Store: scans holographic labels on V.S / V.S.O.P / X.O / Classivm | A hologram-forging lecture |
| Hennessy V.S | VA ABC this fetch: 40.0% / 80; cognac | Invented street price |
| V.S.O.P Privilege | VA ABC this fetch: 40.0% / 80; cognac | Invented street price |
| X.O ABV | Unused as a fresh number this fetch. Leftover 2026 lock 40/80. | A new percent |
| hennessy.com product HTML | Unused this fetch (maintenance). | Guessed bottle anatomy |
Licensed retail is the consumer path
Buy from a licensed store or a state system. A sealed bottle with TTB-required class, brand, and alcohol content in the same field of vision is what US commercial spirits are supposed to carry (TTB brand-label rule; 27 CFR 5.65). That is labeling, not a tasting note. Color, “tea,” cork species, NAFDAC numbers, bargain-bin prices, and laser-sleeve folklore from the 2022 URL are unused as tests. We will not teach anyone how to refill a bottle.
VA ABC tiles this fetch (search lock, matching leftover 2026): Hennessy VS 40.0% / 80.0; Hennessy VSOP Privilege 40.0% / 80.0. Official brand-page percent unused this fetch because hennessy.com product HTML was in maintenance. X.O unused as a fresh number — leftover alcohol-in-Hennessy already locked 40/80. Read the neck. Limited editions can deviate. Ready-to-drink cocktails are not 40%.
A 1.5 oz pour at 40% is one NIAAA drink. A 750 mL 40% bottle is about 17 drinks. Four pours are four drinks. Age bands (V.S / V.S.O.P / X.O) are age, not a fake test and not extra ethanol. Taste, hangover, and “organ failure” lectures from the recovered page are unused. This magazine page is identity and official consumer cues, not a clinic and not a shop.
What the 2022 URL added
The recovered page listed ten checks — price floors, NAFDAC, cork, excise stamp, color-as-tea, holosleeve how-to, oak-vs-synthetic stoppers, and invented MSRP ranges. Unused. We will not reprint a counterfeiter’s checklist. Official unused house HTML this fetch is flagged, not guessed.
What we will not print
- No hologram / UV / serial how-to beyond the official app name and the L+12 contact path.
- No invented 2026 MSRP. No shop overlay.
- No whiskey category. Cognac 13 stays; brandy 12 stays.
- No health-claim fake-alcohol lecture.
