Jack Daniel’s taste is not a TTB class. Old No. 7 is Tennessee whiskey at 40% alcohol by volume, 80 proof, on the Brown-Forman US product-info sheet. Charcoal mellowing is a process, not a legal type by itself. Drinkers often cite banana, oak, and charcoal — bar talk. A 1.5-ounce pour at 40% is one NIAAA drink.
