Malt taste is not a TTB class. Malt is cereal — usually barley — soaked, sprouted, and dried. Beer uses it. “Malt liquor” is a beer label, not whiskey. Drinkers cite toast, nut, or caramel; those are bar English. US malt whiskey is a different type (≥51% malted barley). Typical beer ABV is not a spirit floor, can.
